Jeremy Megginson

Assistant Director of Bands, Director of Percussion, Westlake High School

Jeremy Megginson is currently a student at the University of Utah where is in the final stages of graduate studies. While pursuing a masters degree in Music Performance, he is serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the percussion studio and assists with percussion pedagogy as well as writing, arranging and instruction of the University of Utah Drumline. During this time he has performed at the Utah Arts Festival, Utah Day of Percussion, Pioneer Theatre, premiered works by Christopher Adler, Robert Patterson, Mathew Rosenblum, Christian Asplund, Anthony Bi Bartolo and served as timpanist for the Utah Philharmonia and principal percussionist/timpanist for the Utah Wind Ensemble. Since moving to Utah Mr. Megginson has recorded for ESPN and the SEC Network where he can be heard playing snare drum, bass drum, and cymbals on many college game days across America.

Prior to this, Jeremy attended the University of South Alabama where he earned a degree in Music Education and assisted in writing, arranging and instruction of the University of South Alabama Jag Drumline and Front Ensemble for four years. During this time he was active in the percussion ensemble, jazz band, world music ensemble, wind ensemble, orchestra, steel band, choir, and performed at the Alabama Day of Percussion, Southeastern Percussion Festival, and West Florida Day of Percussion. Jeremy has been an active adjudicator and clinician in both Utah and Alabama where he has worked with solo and ensemble competitions, all-state festivals, honor bands, percussion ensembles, and drumlines. Teachers include Mike Sammons, Doug Wolf, George Brown, Matt Greenwood, Luis Rivera, John Wooton, and John Papastefan.
