So Long, Farewell
We want to congratulate all of our graduating seniors! The imprint you leave on our marching band program will be felt for years to come. Thank you for all your years of hard work, excellent musicianship, and wonderful examples. We will miss you.
We will be updating this mailing list after graduation. If you do not have a graduating senior and you don’t receive this email next week please let us know so we can update your students profile and get you added back to the list.
This Weeks Rehearsals
We know that this is a busy last week of school for many, but we still have several rehearsals.
Tuesday is normal sectionals from 3-5pm
Friday is parade prep rehearsal from 8am-5pm. Please have your student come prepared with water, sunscreen, and a sack lunch.
Saturday is the Eagle Mountain parade. See the schedule on the next item below.
Eagle Mountain Parade Schedule
7:15am – Students arrive at high school, get in uniform, put large instruments in trailer
8:00am – Load buses (jackets, shakos, and instruments in hand)
8:30am – Unload trailer at Hidden Hollow Elementary
10:00am – Parade start
11:30am – Quick water, load buses at Ridley’s
11:45am – Arrive at Westlake, out of uniform, unload trailer, put away uniforms and instruments
Please arrive on time!!
What goes under your uniform?
A compression shirt and compression shorts. Please come already dressed in these items so that you can put on your uniform.

Clinic dates : May 30 and June 6 – 6-8pm on the practice field at Westlake
Cost : $30/child or $50/ 2 siblings

We asked that Physicals be cleared by June 1st, however with my schedule this coming week, I will not be clearing this week. I will be in my office on June 5th and June 7th. The Physical night that the school hosts will be June 13th @ 6pm At Westlake Physical Therapy. I would like to have all Physicals complete with my office by June 15th. So for those of you that have not completed your physical, you have a little bit more time. Thank you for your patience on both matters- Happy end of SCHOOL! Sharon Mardesich
You may turn these in 3 different ways:
- Scan and upload your completed forms to Register My Athlete. Make sure that all pages are on 1 document as you can not upload more than one image or document.
- Scan and email your completed forms to Sharon Mardesich – firstname.lastname@example.org
- Bring your paper physical to Sharon Mardesich’s office at the high school
Register My Athlete
Register My Athlete was reset this past week to add the Weekly Eligibility guiedelines. Please go into your students account and open the document, read it, agree and then resign. The Fee box and Physical should be the only 2 boxes not complete. The Physical will complete if you submit your physical and the Fee box will not show clear until all fee’s are paid which can’t be done until after July 1st.
Marching Shoe Distribution
We will start distributing shoes at Tuesday’s rehearsal. If you ordered shoes for your student, please make sure that you have paid for the shoes and submitted your receipt to email@example.com before Tuesday’s rehearsal.
Trailer Loading & Pit Crew- Anyone who wishes to be on the trailer loading and pit crew (those that take the instruments on an off the field during shows) to please send an email to Dave Duke at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Water Help- Do you drink water? Wanna help water our kids during the marching season? Mike the “water guy” is looking for help this year. Anyone who is interested please contact Mike Kemp for more details. email@example.com or text 801-885-6549
Marching Band Tip of the Week
Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Please please wear it! Reapply it through out the day!
This Friday is parade prep rehearsal from 8am-5pm. That is a long day out in the sun. Please encourage your student to come prepared for all that sun.
If you plan on using a school instrument for marching band you will need to pay the $70 Instrument Fee before being issued a school instrument. (Trombones: Keep in mind that Westlake does not currently march trombone. All trombone players will play baritone or euphonium for the marching band.)
Garrett Mangelson Memorial Scholarship
Applications are due this week. Please submit them by midnight on June 1, 2018. Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to payment of fees in July. https://www.thunderband.com/
Those wishing to donate to the fund may do so using the donate button on the scholarship page and note “Scholarship” as the purpose of their donation.
