Important Information Regarding the Gala

Parents and Students,

Please pardon another mid-week email. I felt it was important to fill you in and provide an update on the President’s Gala.

As was mentioned in the email that was sent on Monday and resent on Tuesday, we have changed the Gala price to $50 per ticket. We hope this has made it easier to approach friends and business owners to sell tickets.

We have a capacity and goal of 200 tickets sold. Currently we are at 28.

I have personally sent the invitation to the Mayor and City Council of both Cities, the School Board, the full Utah Legislature, several area Chamber of Commerce groups, and Alpine School District sent our link via their Alpine Update to all employees today as well. There is some media coverage in the works but we are not sure if it will be on air prior to our catering deadline of Monday. Other parents and staff have sent to their contacts as well. We even had a couple students in uniform handing out fliers outside Ridleys last night!

We are reaching as far and wide as we can, but in the end, WE NEED YOU! I do believe it will come down to the personal touch of each band member reaching out and extending a personal invitation to their neighbors and friends to attend. As mentioned at Step-off and in previous emails, if each Marching Thunder member sold 1 ticket, we would be almost sold out! In fact with what we have already sold, if everyone sold just one we WOULD be sold out. If each band member has a goal to sell 2 tickets, we will reach our goal in no time!

We have parents who have organized an amazing auction and baskets to be auctioned, a wonderful meal that has been planned and a lot of work has gone into putting together a great night but right now, we need YOUR help to get people there to enjoy it. We have the 2018 Tournament of Roses President and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes coming and we do not want them to come to an empty room!

I want to restate also that while we are not asking parents to purchase tickets, you are certainly welcome to do so if you would like to attend. We did not want to have parents feeling obligated to purchase, but we did not intend to discourage parent attendance. If you would like to attend, please feel free to purchase the tickets you would like to, but there is no obligation. Our goal was to reach outside of our parent group so that the community would be involved in this fundraiser.

Thank you for your help and support. The invitation is attached to this email. You are welcome to send it as far and wide as you are able. The link to the Gala webpage is www.thunderband.com/gala/. You can direct people there as well. All the info they need is on that page. We have a Facebook Event set up as well–you can find and share it on the band’s Facebook page “Westlake Thunder Bands”.

Please do what you can. We are so appreciative of those who are chipping in and helping out. We can’t make this happen without you!
